Find the person.
Enter the amount.
Confirm.
This is how the Nearby mobile app is being designed to work. The complexity of a crypto payment doesn’t disappear — it moves to where it belongs, underneath a flow that takes three decisions.
Eight steps. Three decisions.
Nearby
Send to people around you.
You
Both people open Nearby and turn on nearby sending.
- On your screen
- You switch on nearby sending. Maya has receiving switched on.
- Underneath
- Each phone is designed to share a short-lived identifier with the devices around it — never a wallet address.
Nearby
Nearby establishes a local connection between devices.
- On your screen
- People nearby who are ready to receive appear by name.
- Underneath
- Phones discover each other locally and exchange only what’s needed to show a profile.
You
You identify and select the intended recipient.
- On your screen
- You tap Maya — the person standing in front of you.
- Underneath
- Your selection is tied to Maya’s authenticated Nearby profile, not just to a nearby signal.
Nearby
Their linked wallet and receiving preferences determine the route.
- On your screen
- Nothing to choose. You see what Maya receives, and that the route is prepared.
- Underneath
- Nearby resolves Maya’s receiving preferences to a compatible destination in the background.
You
You choose an asset and an amount.
- On your screen
- $75 USDC.
- Underneath
- The amount is checked against what Maya can receive before you can continue.
You
You review the recipient, asset and amount.
- On your screen
- One screen: who, what, how much — and the network fee once it’s known.
- Underneath
- The transaction is prepared from exactly these details, and nothing else.
You
You confirm and sign.
- On your screen
- You approve on your phone. Until this moment, you can cancel.
- Underneath
- Signing happens on your device. Private keys and recovery phrases are designed never to leave it.
Nearby
The transaction is broadcast and settles on-chain.
- On your screen
- Both phones show the same, accurate status.
- Underneath
- The signed transaction is submitted to Robinhood Chain and tracked through to settlement.
You think about people.
Nearby handles the plumbing.
A phone in your hand,
not a tab in your browser.
Finding the person next to you needs the radios, secure storage and on-device signing that only a phone app can use. That’s why Nearby is a mobile app — and why this website only ever demonstrates it.
Local discovery
Approaches such as Bluetooth Low Energy are being evaluated for finding nearby phones, with a QR code as a fallback where it’s needed.
Short-lived signals
Phones are designed to share temporary identifiers with each other — not wallet addresses or other sensitive details.
Signing on device
You approve each payment on your own phone. Private keys and recovery phrases are designed never to be sent to a Nearby server.
One network.
No “which chain?”
Nearby is being built for Robinhood Chain — an Ethereum layer-2 network — and only for Robinhood Chain. Supporting a single network removes a whole category of mistakes: nobody has to ask which chain you’re on, and nobody can pick the wrong one.

Questions,
answered.
Yes, on Android: download it from this site, no app store needed. iPhone is coming soon. This website itself can’t discover devices or send payments. Follow @tryNearby_ for updates.
Yes. In the first version, both people open Nearby: the recipient turns on receiving, the sender finds them nearby.
Not for a nearby payment. The recipient’s address and receiving preferences stay in the background — you choose the person, the asset and the amount. The address still exists; it’s just handled by the app.
Before anything is signed you see a review screen with the recipient’s name and profile, the asset and the amount. If anything looks wrong, cancel — nothing is sent until you confirm.
No, and Nearby doesn’t treat it that way. Proximity helps you find the person; your review of their profile is what confirms it. Read the security principles.
Supported assets will be announced once they’re confirmed for the app on Robinhood Chain. The $75 USDC used throughout this site is an illustrative example.
